WHEEL EASY!
Ride calendar
The following rides are planned.
Sunday rides start at Hornbeam Park railway station off Hookstone Road at 9.30am unless stated otherwise. There are also occasional Off Road, Super Easy, Saturday and other rides. Please check this page regularly for latest details. We look forward to welcoming you to WHEEL EASY!
Wednesday evening rides (May to August) start at 6.30pm prompt, also from Hornbeam Park. The pace is medium/fast typically averaging at least 12 mph on hilly routes. If you are not sure of your abilities you are still very welcome and you will get a lot of encouragement. But be prepared to turn back if you are struggling to keep up with the pace. It is an ad hoc arrangement so rides and leaders are sorted at the rendezvous. Lights are essential in case of a gloomy evening or delays. We also recommend taking a full water bottle and tool kit.Wednesday, July 01, 2009

Long ride - Stephen Price: Birstwith, Hartwith Mill, Brimham rocks, Fell Beck, Kirkby Malzeard (or possible detour round Dallow Gill) Grewelthorpe, Masham, Thorpe Perrow (stop for lunch) Back via Ripon etc.
10.00am Off Road ride - Colin and Debbie. Meet at little lane on northern edge of Ripley, just before the A61/B6165 roundabout. Safe to park if arriving by car.
‘From Ripley to Fountains Abbey and back via Markington and South Stainley, about 3hrs at a nice steady pace. A really pretty and varied ride that includes farm track, single track, forest trail, minor roads, meadows and even cows a’milking; with the added bonus of a lovely view of Fountains Abbey and the possibility of two ‘tea’ stops – either Sticky Wicket Café in Markington, or back in Ripley at the end. A great summer ride, energetic but not technical and suitable for all abilities.’

Long ride - Martin. Wheel Easy Dales Ride
Start 8.00am from the Smiths Arms at Beckwithshaw.
See Route 54 on the Wheel Easy website. Not quite 100 miles but a fabulous ride to Grassington, on to the top of Wharfedale, over to Bishopdale, Wensleydale and back home via Ripon. Hilly to start, flat to finish. No entry required in advance.
We may ride in groups but I would prefer to describe it as “self led”. You need to be organised to be independent - a map, good bike preparation, tool kit, food, drink and all-weather kit needed.

A ride to complete the set. Ilkley seems like a long way but if you have tackled the other rides this will be a treat. Hilly start (aren’t they all?) followed by a long stretch along the river from Otley to Ilkley. Maybe a day for a picnic.
